Feedback, recovery and improvement days
At
the end of each semester, all secondary schools will run feedback,
recovery, and improvement days for students. Culminating assessments
such as portfolios, essays, examinations, and interviews will take place
during instructional days and will be returned to students with
feedback.
The
last day of regular instruction for students in Semester Two is Monday,
June 15. The period from Monday, June 22 to Wednesday, June 24 is
reserved for students to receive feedback from an assessment, to rescue
or recover a credit, or to improve on
an area of missed expectations. Teachers and support staff will
communicate with students who will benefit most from attending this
opportunity; however, all students will be invited to attend. There will
be no new instruction
these days. Feedback, recovery, and improvement days are an opportunity
for students to work closely with their teacher if they require
feedback, recovery, or an opportunity to improve on an area of missed expectations.
School Council
This year, the Council has set a priority of purchasing
BBQs and a deep freezer for the school. These additions will help
better support school clubs, sports teams, community gatherings, and
other school events.
We are committed to raising funds to support student fundraising efforts and to help offset costs wherever possible. Please support School Council on Raise the Dough Day on May 13th.

SCDSB Weekly has arrived!
Since
2018, the SCDSB has been sharing highlights from schools through a
weekly video series. Building on that success, this spring we’re launching the SCDSB Weekly, with a new host and fresh new look! Throughout the school year, we’re
bringing you stories from across the board, shining a spotlight on
standout moments, events, and achievements in our schools. From
innovative classroom learning to inspiring student initiatives, SCDSB
Weekly showcases the students and staff that bring our schools to life! Follow the SCDSB on Instagram, Facebook, and X to watch each week, or visit us on YouTube to see all episodes.
The Alliston Union PS Challenger Baseball team took the field at the Rogers Centre, home of the Toronto Blue Jays, with Jays Care! Students had the chance to practice the skills they’ve
been building all season, meet Ace, and learn the seventh-inning
stretch with the J FORCE team. It was a home run of a day in every way!

Mental Health Week May 4 to 10: Come Together
During
Mental Health Week (May 4–10), communities across Canada are invited to
Come Together—a Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) campaign
highlighting the powerful role connection plays in supporting mental
health.
Schools
are places where connection, care, and belonging are built every day.
When children feel connected to themselves, to others, and to the world
around them, it strengthens their wellbeing and sense of belonging.
Families
play a vital role in this. Simple moments—listening, talking, and
spending time together—can help your child feel supported and
understood. At a time when many people may feel overwhelmed or
disconnected, staying connected with your child matters more than ever.
Check out these resources designed to support connection and learn about mental health.
